BONE GRAFTING
The jawbone can decline significantly in areas with missing teeth, leading to poor quality and quantity of bone, which is unsuitable for dental implant placement. In these situations, patients may require bone grafting to rebuild the jawbone and make it suitable for dental implants.
There are two types of bone graft procedures described as follows:
SINUS BONE GRAFTING PROCEDURE
This procedure involves elevating the sinus membrane in the back area of the upper jaw and placing the bone graft on the sinus floor. Dental implants can then be successfully mounted in the newly stable bone. Patients often see a significant improvement in their chewing capacity within 2-6 months.
Inadequate bone in the top back jaw.
- Bone is grafted into the sinus to increase the height of the jaw.
- Now there is adequate bone to place a dental implant.
BONE GRAFTING OF THE JAW BONE FOR DENTAL IMPLANTS
Bone loss in areas of missing teeth can be very severe and often there is not enough solid bone to support a dental implant. A bone graft to these areas is usually performed to rebuild the foundation of the bone. There are several sources for the bone graft material and we will advise you on your options depending on your specific needs.Bone grafting of the jaw bone for dental implants.
